I found out last night that I'm going to get to see Mates of State. Ever since I was first introduced to them by my lovely wife, I have been enjoying the beautiful candor of their music. It is really a welcome assault to the aural senses. They're a husband and wife piano and drum duo. Largely indie music with a generous helping of good lyrics. I think what's so sweet about them is that they always look each other in the eye while playing music. I don't know if its musical cues or if they're truly in love, or both. I will say though that's its evidence that there's a spark between them. Very fun to see and I'm glad that they share.

Check them out.

Weekend

Bailey and I had an action packed weekend:

  • Bought and Built a new propane Grill, Hank Hill would be proud
  • Trimmed and primped the back yard. It was overgrown, sandy and messy; now it's clean, and the fence has been repaired after a mile-long jasmine attack.
  • Sprayed organic pesticide on our dahlias to hopefully keep the aphids away
  • I baked a Cajun Turkey!
  • Did some work in the basement, but you'll have to visit to see what we did!
